Birthday Trip to San Francisco

For my birthday this year, I decided to forgo the party thing and travel alone instead. I’ve been saying for years that I want to go visit a friend in San Francisco, so that’s just what I did. I went out on Thursday, came back on Tuesday and while I was there I:

Ate Ma Po Tofu at Mission Chinese Food. #1 on the 7×7 2011 Big Eat List.

Visited Pixar

Saw Alcatraz, the Painted Ladies and a beautiful sunset.

Drove over the Golden Gate Bridge on the way to Visit Napa

Watched the Superbowl

Saw the Sea Lions, went to Union Square (lame), explored the California Academy of Sciences.

Played Trampoline Dodgeball at the SF House of Air – we need one of those in NY!

On my way home I started a new knitting project. It’s a lace scarf. A 5 hour flight and this how far I got.

How I Met Your Mother Jacket

Monday night in San Francisco after playing trampoline dodgeball, some friends and I ended up watching the episode of How I Met Your Mother that Katy Perry guest starred on. That’s the first time I’ve seen the show. So funny!

On the show, one of the characters wore a jacket that I absolutely loved. (About 11 minutes into the “Oh, Honey” episode.) While we were watching, I made a comment that I have gotten really good at seeing clothes or shoes on tv or wherever and searching them out on the internet. When I got to work on Wednesday (my first day back after vacation), it took me three clicks to find it. I’m getting good at this!

Bird by Juicy Couture ‘Brittney’ Suede Trip Peplum Waist Leather Jacket for $1150

Why must I always have insanely expensive taste. The more I look at this jacket, the more I love it. The more I love it, the more I consider splurging. Then I mentally slap myself and ask if I’m crazy. Once that’s all through, I stare at it, realize I have a sewing machine (with very elementary sewing skills) and think, how hard could it really be to make this? Then I think through how I would do it and get really excited. Then I realize if I try I will probably waste countless hours and lots of money and end up with something that looks like a Home Ec project. It’s all so depressing.

Google Weddings!

For any of my engaged friends out there, Google announced yesterday that they are launching Google Weddings – a combination of Google Docs, Google Sites (think mywedding.com or theknot.com where you can create your own wedding site to share info with everyone), and Picnik (a photo tool).

Seems like a really helpful tool that will make it so easy to share documents with multiple people and give multiple people the ability to edit a document without sending it back and forth 80 times.

Don’t know why Google has made getting into the wedding business a priority, but seems cool.

Club Monaco Chaya Knit Headband

A couple weeks ago, a friend asked me if I could make a gray headband/ear warmer for her. I told her I absolutely could and that I even had an idea of what I wanted to do. I had recently seen a headband at Club Monaco that I thought was cute and would be super easy to make:

I grabbed some yarn from my stash that I had left over from a hat I made a while back that was perfect and set out to recreate the headband. Four hours later, I had this. Pretty darn close if you ask me!

So awkward

Ok, so there’s this song by TI – Whatever You Like…

This week my Pandora has been playing this version of the song…

So awkward.
